Maker - Sumavi
Who are you?
I am Michelle, owner and operator of Sumavi, a lifestyle accessories label for wandering souls, lovers of life & everyone in between.
Where are you based?
I am lucky enough to call the Noosa Hinterland home, sometimes I still have to pinch myself.
How did your brand come about?
It was 2015, I was living in Melbourne, working in a 9-5 office job that I had lost total motivation for. I started Sumavi as more of a creative release than anything, daydreaming that one day I could ditch the office job and pursue something that I was passionate about and allowed me to have a healthier work/life balance. It wasn’t until we (hubby and 2 kids) moved to the Sunshine Coast a few years ago, that I decided to listen to the 20 year old version of myself, pleading with me to give my dreams a real go. I have not looked back since and am so grateful I took the leap.
Ethically made cotton Turkish towels & organic cotton Vintage Style Tees.
My Sumavi tees are 100% certified organic cotton, ethically made, printed in Noosa with eco-friendly water based inks and I only print in small batches to minimise wastage. Originally designed as a cool souvenir t-shirt for the Sunshine Coast, Sumavi tees have been just as popular with the locals, which has been incredible. Locals supporting locals!
My stunning range of cotton Turkish towels are ethically made and thoughtfully sourced from weavers in rural Turkey, where they are still made using traditional methods, by small family run ateliers. The beauty of our towels is they can be used all year round, as a towel, scarf, shawl, travel blanket or a throw – and the more useful and high quality our belongings are, the less the chance they will end up in landfill.
Thank you for supporting small Australian businesses x
